Career Speakers – There are hundreds of Rotarians covering a wide range of careers, everything from carpet cleaner to nuclear physics. Many are willing to speak to a classroom or community partner about their work, the challenges and benefits associated with a specific career, or about such topics as how to find a job, overcoming obstacles, setting goals, time management, or other job related skills. To request a career speaker, send an email detailing preferred time, date, and topic to columbiametrorotary@gmail.com.
Programs – We offer many different types of programs from interactive small group programs that involve facilitated discussion among Rotarians and youth such as our “Meet the Managers” program series, to the orientation programs required for field trips or job shadows, to coaching sessions, skills trainings, and longer term activities like the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Academy or Youth Exchange. You can search for scheduled programs on the calendar by entering a key word or scrolling through the dates. Don’t see what you need? Send us a request at columbiametrorotary@gmail.com.
Field Trips – We sponsor a number of field trips including an annual legislative day in Jefferson City, Past trips offered have included outdoor adventures, visits to art galleries, a “food services” tour, visits to colleges and universities, and visits to job sites. All field trips are designed to help youth and young adults think about how to connect to jobs and careers. Job Shadows – We provide opportunities for one or two youth and young adults at a time to spend a day or half-day observing and interacting with a Rotarian or other community member at their workplace.
